 uring our first year of existence, the foundation has taken its ideas and developed them into a reality. We began in August of 2000 with $8,500 from Pete Springer's campaign fund. In December of 2000, we mailed 1500 informational brochures to friends, family, supporters and colleagues. We received a large response of support letters and contributions. On April 11, 2001, we held our first reception benefit at the Wintergarden at BellSouth in downtown Nashville. We had an outstanding attendance and raised over $8,000 at the event. We thank BellSouth and Jim Spears for their help. Looking ahead, we are planning a golf tournament at Greystone Golf Club in Dickson for June 26, 2001. We hope to have all of our supporters attend the tournament, which will be the first of many. Within nine months of the inception of the foundation, we have given two $1,000 scholarships. We are extremely proud of this and plan to give even more next year. For more information about the scholarships that have been awarded, see the Fundraising Events/Scholarships Awarded page.

ete Springer dedicated his life to his family, education and public service. He left a legacy that will never be forgotten and a void that will never be filled. Pete touched so many lives in so many ways. The Kenneth "Pete" Springer Board of Directors wants to continue to touch lives and continue the legacy of Pete by fulfilling the goals we have set, setting more goals and continuously striving to make ourselves and society better. Therefore, the Kenneth "Pete" Springer Memorial Foundation was established to remember his life and focus on improving the lives of others. 
ur goal is to assist students to further their education. Within the next year we hope to raise enough money to fund at least three $1,000 scholarships, and increase the number of scholarships given in future years. This means that we want to give at least three scholarships in the spring of 2002. That will be one more than in 2001.
