ete Springer was born February 27, 1945 in Lyles, Tennessee and passed away April 12, 2000. He dedicated his life to his family, education and public service. He served as a husband, father, grandfather, teacher, coach, administrator, Senator and friend.
Pete graduated from Hickman County High School, received his B.S. and Master's Degrees in Education from Middle Tennessee State University and Ed.S. Degree from Tennessee State University.
Pete married Janice Mangrum Springer in 1966 and had three children: Neyland, Vince and Jarron. They are also blessed with four grandchildren: Allyson, Hayden, Erin and Kenneth.
Over his 30 years in education, Pete served in the Hickman, Dickson and Williamson County schools as a teacher, coach and administrator.
Pete served in the 92nd and 97th through 101st General Assemblies. Over those years he served as Chairman of the Senate Government Operations Committee; treasurer of the Senate Democratic Caucus; member of the Senate Education and Transportation Committee and the Select Oversight Committees on Education, Children and Youth.
Pete was a Mason, a Shriner and Knights Templar. He served on the board of directors for The Southern College of Optometry and the Jeff Dye Scholarship Foundation.
